The view from Rib Mountain State Park is spectacular whether you stop at the numerous observation points or climb to the top of the 60-foot observation tower. Miles and miles of beautiful color can be seen from the mountain's altitude.

Oak Island Park offers wooded trails and a system of bridges which lead from the adjacent Isle of Ferns Park. A beautiful retreat to nature located in downtown Wausau.

If vibrant colors are your goal, then a short drive to the Dells of the Eau Claire County Park will be a memorable addition to your autumn adventure. Crunch through falling leaves as you walk past breathtaking rock formations and the gurgling rapids of the Eau Claire River. Twenty-seven miles southwest of Wausau lies the Big Eau Pleine County Park with 2050 wooded acres. Actually a peninsula that runs two miles into the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, the Big Eau Pleine Park offers miles of gorgeous hiking trails.

A particularly colorful area exists on the hills between Wausau and Merrill, and in Brokaw just north of Wausau on Hwy 51. The hills and valleys in this area offer wonderful scenic driving opportunities.
